Dolmio Black Male Lion
I paced the sides of the river, trying to think of a plan to kill the sting-rays and eels beneath the murky surface. The crocodiles were the worst. Their nest was at the west side, where it was harder to go, and the nest was huge. There was 2 males, one young and one old. The old male didn't really come out a lot, he mostly stayed at the nest. The young male had 3 females, all who had bred. One was pregnant and stayed at the nest and 2 had given birth. There was 2 baby crocs, small and slim, but fast. Both were males, and males grew to be bigger than the females. Occasionally, a croc would come up onto the river bank to feast or rest and i would either injure or kill it and eat the remains. Sometimes, during the winter reason when the river froze over, they would freeze or starve to death or never wake up during naps. The dangers below the surface kept us cats from going in swimming. We even had to be quick when we drank, if we wanted to keep ourselves alive. The young male swam a metre under the surface, eyes locked on mine. I raised my lips, growling and the croc opened it's long mouth and mashed his teeth together. I hated that male. I looked at the small shape gliding along behind his father. A baby. I stepped back, waiting and watching . Here we go. A few minutes later, the young male stuck his snout out of the water and waved it back and forth, checking the coast was clear. A few years ago, i would have leapt up and attacked but i was wiser now. The green snout dissapeared and there was a rustling before the baby crocodile appeared on the river bank. It walked on his stumpy legs, snuffling. The father stayed in the water, warily. But then finally he came beside his son. I waited until the pair were at least 3 metres away from the river before i roared, sprinting towards them. I landed on top of the baby, squashing him and suffocating him. There wasn't any time to waste. I left him wounded, panting already and heading for the male. The huge jaws opened and shut, snapping noisly and the greeny body turned and tried to amble towards the river. I sprinted ahead and jumped on the blunt spiky back, landing heavily. We tumbled together into the river and i managed to get one big breath before i was under. The male had swum free from my grip and was favouring a front leg. I turned, about to quickly swim away when i saw the large old male speed towards me. I waved my paws around in the water, eyes wide. I floated to the top, screaming and snarling like a cub. "HELP!" I roared, close to tears. I grabbed a reed only to have it slip between my teeth and i fell back into the water. The older male was closer still and a female was following. The younger male was swimming away from me, right front leg tucked into his body. I shut my eyes tight, trying to swim upwards, but the breath escaped my body as the old male banged into me, knocking me to the side of the river bank. I opened my mouth, seeing the older male swim at my left side, the female at my right. I'd be squished to a pulp soon. I made one last attempt to reach the surface and finally did, my body wracking with heaves and coughs. I sunk my claws into the soggy mud at the sides of the river and heaved my body out just as the female's jaws connected where i would have been a split second before. I managed to stagger a few steps before collapsing, breathing deeply, coughing, shaking the water from my ears and eyes. The baby crocodile lay dead beside me. I moaned. At least i had injured another and killed a potential future threat.

((OOC: Love the title ))
It had been an early morning, the sun was blazing and the birds had just started singing. A figure was silently making its way across the sun baked earth, heat bouncing off the ground, The only form of relief came from a gentle breeze, the wind danced through the grass, ticking up dirt and smells as it raced across the earth. The sleek figure continued to move without a sound through the grass, blending in with its surroundings. The creature was a lioness, a powerful and proud one at that. Zora slowly began to pick up her pace, her feet rhythmically pounding the dusty ground while she let out a laugh, adrenaline pumping onto her veins as she chased the breeze.
Zora slowed after a while, coming across a murky looking river. She had been here before, mostly when she was cub. When she had gotten into fights with the other cubs she used to watch the figures moving underneath the water, it made her feel dangerous which was someone a hurt lioness needed to feel. The dark lioness sat in silence, listening to the birds and the occasional splash of water.
A distant cry cause Zora to stand, her ears forward and mind on high alert. The dark lioness trotted down the shoals of the water, her paws sinking in the wet sand. Zora broke into a heavy run, seeing the thrashing of the water. There was too much movement for her to see what was really going on, but she could tell just by the amount of movement that a croc had gotten to someone. Zora let out a snarl and realized that the struggle was moving to the other side of the river. The dark lioness cursed and then plunged head first into the water, her body releasing a wave of adrenaline into her blood, it coursed through her veins, making her strokes longer and her eyes sharper. Zora saw the first croc and gave it a quick swipe at it's belly, cutting it down its side. The beast turned and snapped at Zora's legs, forcing the lioness back. Her lungs began to burn for air but Zora wasn't about to back off. She kicked furiously through the water until she was face to face with one of the croc's, Zora swiped at it again and forced herself onto of it's snout. It was a stupid move but the croc instinctively pushed up and back, launching Zora up and closer towards the surface of the water. The fight had calmed down and Zora quickly made her way to the bank of the river, almost unscathed by the dangerous encounter.
Zora looked over to see a black mount of panting fur laying further down the bank. The dark lioness gasped, her dark blue orbs flashing with fear. "Dolmio!" She called, rushing forward toward her friend's side. She quickly examined him, making sure he wasn't hurt. "Wake up!" She snarled.

"I killed one" I said weakly, eyes drooping. Fighting with the crocodiles was harder than i thought! "Zora?" I asked, frowning. I smiled, and hugged her close and then fell, un conscious.

Zora nodded, "Yeah, Dolmio, it's me." She said quietly, finding joy swell in her heart. But it quickly disappeared once he passed out. The dark lioness, splashed water on the black lion's face, trying to get him to open his eyes. "Come on, wake up!" She snarled.

I woke with a start, screaming blue murder, panting and sweating. I leaned into Zora, breathing heavily. "Zora ... i ..." I closed my eyes, swallowing, and opened them again, smiling weakly. "I missed you" I whispered into her neck, grabbing her into a hug. I spotted the baby croc's corpse behind us and broke away from her, leaping over to the body and devouring most. "Mmm" I grinned.

Zora wrapped her long dark paw around her friend, "It's good to see you." She said smiling. Zora stepped back, waiting for her friend to finish her meal, sunning herself on the sandy beach.

"Sorry" I said, frowning. I should have let my old friend some meat. "If your hungry, we can hunt?"

Zora laughed and shook her head, "Not a problem, after a fight like that--you must be tired and hungry. How's the pride? New members?" She asked, leaning back on her haunches enjoying the feeling on the sun beating down on them and on the sand.
