Winks had trouble trusting others? Well, that I could relate to. Then he said he still liked me. "Really?" I asked, feeling more hopeful than before. If he didn't trust me yet, I could accept that. Trust had to be built. But if he just hadn't liked me, there wouldn't have been much I could do about it. Things were looking up. I smiled, "So...we're okay?" I glanced at Korra, wondering if she was feeling as good about everything as I was. Maybe Winks and I just needed to get to know each other a little.

I smiled plainly, nodding. Tamara woke up, leaving her younger brother snoring. She padded over to me, staring at Asali. "This is Asali, remember?" I asked her sweetly, bending down to her level. "Azally?" Tamara asked, cocking her head. "No no ... A-S-A-L-I" I spelled.

A sigh of relief escaped my lips as Winks confirmed that things between us were resolved. Now I just hoped that things between Winks and Korra were alright, seeing as Korra had mostly taken my side through all of this. I glanced at her again, wondering if she was warming back up to him. Tamara woke up and wandered over. I smiled as Winks reminded her who I was.
Azally? she attempted. I chuckled and Winks corrected her, spelling out my name. "Hello, Tamara," I said, leaning down to her level. I kept a little distance, to keep Winks happy. Also, I didn't want Tamara to be afraid of me, a stranger.

Tamara wandered over, smiling happily. I froze, eyes wide as my beautiful little daughter walked closer to Asali. Careful ... I was ready to sweep her back, a growl almost sounding in my throat.

Tamara came closer and I smiled kindly at her. She was a brave little cub, definitely. She didn't seem to have trouble with strangers. Though I wondered if that was a bad thing. Everyone tells their little ones 'don't talk to strangers'. Of course, Winks had introduced me. So maybe she wouldn't approach just anyone.
I glanced at Winks. He seemed tense. I wondered if he really thought I was a danger to Tamara and Royal. I laid down so I would be less threatening and gave him a reassuring look as if to say trust me, it'll be okay. Of course, it probably wouldn't do much good. "Did you have a good nap?" I asked the little cub.

"Mm hm" Tamara shook her head then nodded and frowned, confused. "Sorry about that ... she's not quite learned everything" I chuckled, easing up and cuddling Royal closer. I looked at Korra who was nodding approvingly at me and i beamed back to her.

I chuckled at Tamara's expression. Cubs were so amusing. I found myself hoping that one day I could tell stories like this to Korra and Winks about my own cubs. I hoped I had a little girl like Tamara. I suppressed a sigh and focused on the present time. Wink's apologized for her, and seemed to ease up a little. That was comforting. I grinned back at him, "It's okay." I looked back at Tamara. "I bet you're the smart one, huh?" I nodded at Royal with a grin.

I laughed heartily, earning a love-struck glance from Korra. "Yeah well ... they get their brains from their mother" I laughed as Korra shot me a glare but then laughed and bumped into me. I gave her a long, lingering lick on her forehead, lovingly resting my head on her shoulder. "So ... do you want to take a walk with them?" I asked, lifting a stirring Royal onto my back so he was nestled between my wide shoulder blades. "Korra, you should rest" I said gently, looking at Asali.

Winks was definitely warming up. If I was right, I felt a friendship starting to bud. I felt hopeful again. Winks made a joke about Korra and I laughed, then sent her an apologetic smile. Then Winks offered to let me join on a walk with the cubs. I nodded, "Yes, definitely. As long as it's no trouble." I would do everything I could to make him comfortable with my presence around his family. I looked at Korra as if to say 'well, this is going well!'

I smiled and Tamara started to whimper. "No daddy, i want Asali to come with me!" My daughter started to cry. "Don't worry princess, she is. Maybe if you ask nicely, your new friend can carry you" I said, smiling at them both, feeling Royal stretch on my back.

Tamara started to whine about me and I smiled softly. She seemed to take to me well. It made me happy. "Come here, Tamara, you can ride with me." I knelt down and smiled. I was glad Winks was feeling better about all of this. To let me carry his cub meant he must be starting to trust me. I wondered if he would let me babysit soon, or if he just needed some more time before he'd let me watch them alone. I was sure he'd need to see me interact with them more before he knew they would be okay with me.

I supervised carefully as Tamara clambered onto Asali's sleek back, getting herself comfy and settling down. We started to walk, swaying side by side until Royal woke up but stayed quietly on my back.

I reached back to help Tamara up carefully. She got into a position and settled down for the walk, so I looked at Winks and then we started walking off. At first it was quiet. Royal woke up, but didn't make a fuss or anything so we kept going. I nudged Winks' shoulder lightly and shot him a mischievous grin. "So...does this mean you're starting to trust me?" I asked. I couldn't blame Winks for not having trusted me before. After all, who had more trust issues than I did? I'd up and left him the last time we'd crossed paths. I'd given him fair reason to doubt me. All because I'd lacked trust for him. Ironic how things seemed to be turning out...

I smiled and nodded, chuckling. Asking Tamara if she was okay, i lay down, discovering silly Royal had fallen asleep again. "He was up late last night" I said, grinning apologetically.

His laugh was reassuring. He nodded in response to my question and I felt relieved. Things had definitely turned out better than I thought they would an hour ago. Winks stopped and laid down and I sat, carefully setting Tamara down beside me. Royal conked out again and I laughed softly at Winks' apology. He had been up late, apparently. "It's fine," I said, almost whispering. I stretched and looked around, enjoying the scenery of the forest, and the soft snores of the little male cub.
