Yawning Days (OPEN)

[SORA :D]

I was not too comfortable about not being heard by Chad, but I wasn't going to risk angering the tigress by protesting. She was by the fall, laying licking her paws. The roar of the falls almost matched that of the tigress. Mist and drips of water collected, and fell from the leaves overhead. I padded over slowly, trying to make her know that I didn't mean harm, but would defend myself. She explaind herself, and her turns. Ok, what's the condition?

"You can't tell anyone, if you do, the results will be terrible." I shot out, smiling as the mist rolled over me. I sat up and shook my fur, relieving some of the drops off me.

I stiffed as she explained consequences. And my heart almost stopped when she smiled at me. It's not like she had an ugly smile, she was actually quite beautiful. But something about her behavior just made me not trust her. Out with it! I yelped, much louder than I intended.

"You just made a promise, so you can't tell anyone" I laughed, not evilly, just at her outburst. "I want Royal" she purred, standing up now, so there was no way for Korra to escape. "Or Tamara, you can decide" she shrugged, "I won't kill them, don't worry" I said truthfully, for I had other plots at mind. I lifted up a paw to signal her not to yell or get mad, my claws were out, and I knew she wouldn't want to fight again.

Dead silence. Complete, and utter silence. It happened so fast. They happened so fast, and now it seemed as if my cubs would be stollen from me again. Though she was only asking for one, it still felt the same as loosing both of them. It's like loosing part of yourself, after all, your cubs are part you. Tanni had her claws drawn, and I knew it was hopeless. I was weak as is, and if I risked another fight, I'd be torn to pieces. I lowered my head, and fell limp to the ground. Tears welled up in my eyes, but only a few escaped, before my pain turned to a mix of rage, and desperation. Tanni had said that whichever one i gave her wouldn't be killed, but I didn't believe one bit of it. And besides, why would she want a cheetah cub anyway? Tanni's tabby fur swayed in the light breeze, and twinkled from the mist. I stared into her eyes. Something about them seemed heartless. Maybe it was the way they looked down, before her white fangs tore through you, or maybe it was the deep, dark color, that seemed to never end. Why? Why do you want one of my cubs? What good are they to you!? I shouted, with traces of venom. Though the overall affect was a plee from a mother to save her family.

Tanni growled but unsheathed her claws and set her paw back down. Korras eyes burned into hers, but Tanni held her gaze, string and willing. "I had 2 cubs, one was stillborn" I snarled back, " besides its none of your concern! Royal or Tamara. Choose now. And if you deny, I'll drive out your whole family. Starting with winks!" She breathed heavily at her small rant, and continued in a less tense voice. "Or I could take both"

My eyes filled with anger, but my voice with desperation. How could I send away my cubs? Tanni mentioned how one of her cubs was still born, but I failed to find a connection. She said if I denied, she would kill Winks, and I turned my head away. Then she said she would take both, just like the lion who took my first litter, and cut them down in front of me. Anger was eating away at my resistance, and my mind was playing through multiple scenarios and there outcomes. But what I said next, I didn't really think through. Take me.

"TAke you?" I snarled at the remark. "Your just gunna leave your family?" I made sure that nobody was watching before I continued on. "Watch what you say around me" I snapped, and swing a paw at her face, catching her cheek, but my claws wernt out, so no cuts where left behind. If your gone, wouldn't winks just give up from despair? He would neglect the cubs, and then I'd get them either way!" I growled, taken aback by her remark. "What would be the point of killing them? Their to scrawny to eat, and old enough to hunt. Think, if I take you, I'm taking BOTH cubs"

I laughed. My bold side was beginning to push its way through. She struck me with her paw, but didn't cause more damage. My voice was less sad, and more venomous. You have Winks pegged wrong. I stayed, standing up. My eyes were locked on hers, and they narrowed. The fur on the back of my neck stood stiff. He could live without me. He's done it before. And even if he did abandon the cubs, Asali could care for them. I frowned at the thought of leaving them, but knew that they would be better off if I took there place. I hoped that she wouldn't turn the tables on me, but I was ready for a fight. I would die, but at least she would get beaten up by Chad and Dalmio.

Tanni locked the poison dart gaze. She lifted higher than the cheetah, her fur ruffled up, a instant reaction. Tanni was taken aback by this action, but quickly recovered. "One last chance" I threatened, "take the easy way, if you die, you won't be able to see your cubs again, if you give them to me, you'll be able to see then grow up, you'll be able to have them when they get older."

I didn't stand down. I wasn't giving up. You know, I may feel better about this if you told me WHY you want them. My body was ready run, if she made an advance. Tanni explained that I had one more chance, and other things. But what really struck me was they fact that she said I could have them back. Why take them if your going to give them back? My eyes narrowed, and my face expressed that I wasn't happy.

"I will give them back, well if they want to join you back.", she thought for a second, "there's no catch, it's just that get them. For a year or so. But you can still see them"" I waited for answer, I really didn't want to kill her, but I wasn't about to go all soft.

And this teaches me what, exactly? I answered, my voice now full of venom. I know that Tanni wants expecting me to act the way I am acting, but if Im about die, I'm going out knowing I fought. I laughed bitterly, and turned my head away.

"Don't bite off more than you can chew" I answered back, staring at her hard. "Answer now Korra, make this quick" she growled, holding herself back from lunging. "At least you'd be able to see them again"

I really didn't know how to answer this. It's like, if you pick one cub, they hate you, but of dont pick, your dead. I'm caught between a rock and a hard place. She said that they would be able to see me, but I still couldn't see the point in taking them, if they weren't actually taken. I choose... I paused for a dramatic effect. Myself. I sucked in a breath, and prepared for the worst. But my last words may not be my last. My voice had no sadness in it, and no trace of regret. I smiled, and asked, What will Orion think of this? I laughed bitterly, and closed my eyes.
