I lay in the thick grass, belly close to the cool earth. Konnor was old enough to start learning some basic hunting and fighting skills, and I was proud to be the one to teach him. I looked over at my son, pride welling up in me, as I was his tail flick with excitement. Some rabbit were eating flowers near by, and though a rabbit it's a filling meal, it was a perfect target for a novice.

Konnor rolled onto his back, kicking his tiny paws ito the air laughing. With a giggling twist, he stood up, pawing at his dads huge face, as the grass twined around his legs. The little Striped cub paused, swirling around as he heard movement. His eyes blinked as the looked around, so innocent and happy. Konnor dropped low as he saw some prey, small and delicious. With a flick of the tail Konnor slowly crept forward, lost in the tall grass, but kept his little head up with a determined look on his face. He stopped a couple metres away, hesitating, before lunging through the air and scampering towards the rabbit. He was on it in seconds, grabbing it like a play you and shaking it around.

I tilted my head to the right, looking at my son proudly. Is sweet, innocent laugh made me smile, and felt wonderful when Konnor turned his head and sensed the prey near. I bent down close to him, and whispered "Stay quite, and pounce when it's not expecting." The, I nudged him forward, observing as he prowled the grass. I head a cry, and lifted my head to see Konnor, shaking the life out of a rabbit.

Konnor gave a tiny hiss as he made way with his fisrt ever catch. He held his head proudly, although he had to drag the heavy rabbit. The flaming fur cub placed it at Orion's front paws, "I caught it Daddy! I caught it!"

Pride welled up in me as Konnor brought his kill to me. "Yes, and what a good kill!" I cooed, bringing him in for a hug. I held him close, then let him eat his first kill.

Konnor purred at the attention, and he pounced on his kill. The warm flesh felt so different from the almost cold ones his parents brought back. The bunny's fur was floating past him as he shook te pelt again. With hi small jaws, he tenderly cut open the belly, ate some, than pawed it towards his dad.

I tilted my head, wanting to laugh at how dedicated he was. Konnor shook the pelt, over and over, making site it was dead. The cub seemed confused about the animals temperature. Bit he looked like he liked it by the way he tore into it. After he finished, the rest was offered to me, and I happily took it.

I watched as my dad ate it, and I hoped he liked it, the wild taste still lingered on his lips and he missed it already. With a cool breeze sifting through hi fur, he growled to it playfully, leaping around and jumping on the striped massive head in front of and clinging on mewling.

The little rabbit wasn't filling, but I wasn't really hungry. My cub was respectful, and I graciously accepted his offering. Breeze shifted through my coat, and Konnor growled, and played around, clinging to my head, as I shook him around playfully.

As orion shook his head, Konnor dropped off and let out a tiny growl of protest. He crouched low, waiting to attack his fathers tail in revenge. With a skip, hop and a tumble, Konnor pranced his little paws onto his dads tail, tugging it briefly before running off in a different direction, scratching at the base of a tree.

I sighed proudly. He had the instincts to be the envy of any female. Konnor was my pride and joy. If anything happened to him...I stopped myself there. If someone tried to hurt my son, lets just say that they wouldn't see another face after mine. I felt a tug on my tail, then watched the young cub scamper off, and rake his claws in the bark of a tree. I examined his contoures as he pulled his front limbs down the tree, and then back up. He had the structure of a strong tiger, broad. Above his scratch marks, were mine. Long, deep. They reminded me of how he wouldn't be young forever, and how Old I was getting.

Konnor brought his tail up, and scanned the the tree. Soft dirt sifted through his small paws, and he wriggled slightly, circling the tree, and crawling under the bushes, sniffing around. His tiny tail disappeared as he tumbled off.

I laughed and followed him, keeping behind so that I didn't get in the way of whatever he was doing.

Konnor didn't notice his father creeping behind him, so with the thought of how he was alone, and crawled out of the bushes. He spotted some movement, and charges forward, disturbing a bird from the tall grass.

I stayed back, waiting for Konnor to make his move. I wanted to see if a) he could catch it, and b) if he had listened to me during training.
