She seemed to get it. My stripes contrasted against my honey colored coat, and had specks of white through put. She asked about my name sake. "Actually, I don't know why my name is Royal." I frowned, felling foolish for not even knowing why I was named what I was. "But I bet you're right." Imara seemed very kind, and very curious, much like myself.

I let out a feminine laugh, throwing my head back a little at his response. He didn't know his names origin but it made sense to him that it had to do with his unique markings. I grinned at him. "I think that must be it," I said. I paused, and shrugged. "That or they have pretty high hopes for you," I smiled. Royal seemed okay. Maybe we could be friends. He was rather funny and so far he'd been pretty nice, even though I had been a bit rude before. I hoped he wouldn't hold that against me.
I looked around at the waterfall and the surrounding trees and landscape. I felt content. "What do you do for fun, Royal?" I asked, my head swiveling back to his direction. I wrapped my tail around my paws and waited patiently.

I laughed along, sighing deeply when she stopped. I shook my head when she mention that my parents had high hopes for me. Those mainly went to my sister, Tamara. She excelled at everything, and nothing I did compared. But she always felt intimidated by me, she was was always really mean. "No, not for me." I sighed, frowning. "Tamara is the one they really have hope for." I sighed, but thought about how my mom was very encouraging. I looked around, and Imara asked about what I did for fun. I answer with one word. "Run."

I gave Royal a curious look when he shook his head, denying that his parents had high hopes for him. He insisted that their hopes were pinned on someone called Tamara. "Your sister?" I guessed. That made me sad, that his parents were playing favorites, even if only in Royal's eyes. He sighed, and there was a frown on his face. I decided not to push it. We didn't know each other well enough for me to try and give him advice or comfort.
The subject changed to fun. Royal's answer to my question was simple, and summed up in a single word. Run. I smiled. That would be it. I thought about offering that we race, but I knew I could never match his speed. I didn't feel like setting myself up for failure. "I bet you're pretty fast, too." I looked at his long powerful legs and the claws that were only semi-retractable and gave him more traction. He was probably a pretty decent hunter as well.

I could tell that Imara wanted to help, but didn't want to push it. And I appreciated that. I'm sure she had had someone in her pride that competed with her for stuff, I told myself. I brightened up when she told me I was fast. I didn't say anything, but only gleamed at her. "We'll, you know what I do for fun, so what about you?" I asked, tilting my head.

I hesitated to answer Royal about what I did for fun, but decided he probably wouldn't tell on me. "Well...I like to wander off and explore. On my own, away from the pride. It's more exciting that way." I grinned, thinking about how I'd sneaked off this very day to come here. I wondered if Royal had a rebellious streak, or if he would think I was being immature and disobedient. I hoped he would understand. He was, after all, out here alone. Maybe he'd sneaked off as well?

I grinned as she told me about how she wondered. My father was so very against me wandering around. In fact, I went behind his back just to be out walking today. "It must be nice to just explore." I shrugged. maybe she was allowed to wonder? I wasn't sure, but she seemed fine being out here. I sighed, and then looked at the shade. I stood up, and walked over to it. I lay down in a heap, panting from heat,

I shook my head at Royal's statement. "It's not like that," I told him. "I'm not really supposed to be here. I'm supposed to be with my sister back at the dens." Royal had wandered over to the shade and was resting. I walked over and sat near him, feeling the temperature drop significantly. It was nice. I licked the water off my coat and shook it dry and then relaxed. My fur was nearly dry now. "I do wander off pretty regularly, but I'm sure my parents are going to catch on pretty soon. My father is a little strict..." I shrugged and laid down on the cool ground under the shade.

I watched as she came closer. The way she explained herself led me to think she was a rebel. I laughed lightly when she said her dad was strict. "My dad gets mad if I don't sit correctly." I shrugged, then laughed. it it was true. Tamara was the angle, and I was the disappointment.

Royal laughed telling me about his father's over strict personality. I laughed with him. It sounded like an exaggeration, but it could very well be true. I felt the same way about my father, that his expectations were impossible to meet. Still, I loved him. I looked at Royal. "What about your mom? Is she strict, too?" I asked. Luna was more relaxed than Dolmio. I wondered if Korra was the same way.

We laughed, and carted on. It felt good to laugh, and I was believing that Imara was now my friend. We had a lot in common, and I found it easy to connect with her. she asked about my mom, and I smiled. "She's really layed back."

"That's good," I said in response to Royal's statement about his mother. "At least both of your parents aren't strict." I was sure having two overly strict parents would be torture. I probably wouldn't be out here right now if that were my case. Royal either. Royal was nice. My previous judgements of him seemed to be entirely misled. I wasn't sure why I had never met him before, but I was glad I had now. It seemed I had finally made a friend outside my family! It was nice to talk to someone who wasn't my sister or my mom, someone outside the pride. "Royal, I'm sorry I was rude before. You're pretty cool."

A big grin crossed my face, and my my eyes lit up. Imara seemed to have accepted me as a friend. I finally had a friend, other than King and my Mom. It was dark now, and I looked around, seeing the pale glow of the moon. Imara apologized for being rude. "It's Ok, and I'm sorry for making you fall into the water." I shrugged. "You're not as scary as I thought. Actually, you're not scary at all." I winked.

He apologized, in return, for making me fall into the water. I giggled, and shrugged. Yeah, he had done that. But my fur was dry now and I wasn't upset about it. Besides, it had been mostly my fault that I'd walked off the edge of the rock. The sun had set as we talked and I looked up at the moon. I was fairly bright, not that either Royal or I needed the light of the moon to see. He said something about not thinking I was scary. I looked at him and raised a brow. "Seriously? Not at all?" I asked in mock disappointment. I stood and crouched, flicking my tail in the air. "You want to rethink that?" I asked, then growled low. I pounced, not really wanting to hurt him, but more in play.

Imara looked disappointed when I said she wasn't that scary. I was confused, I thought it was a complement? Oh well. Imara was showing off, and took me by surprise when I found myself pinned to the ground. Imara didn't hurt me, it was just in play. I laughed, and played along. "Ok, so maybe you are just a little scary." I teased, escaping from under her.
