I was rather enjoying this hunt for Korra's den. I could tell we were getting close when we headed over the stream. Korra checked out the rock I had pointed out to her and told me it was the right one. She pointed me in the next direction and I headed towards the bushes. My eyesight was better than my sense of smell, but still, I recognized Korra's scent, though very faint after the rain, near the bushes. I sniffed around some more and finally found a den. "Korra, I think I found it," I called to her. I sat down and looked back at her. I liked that I was able to help her. This was rather important, too. It was where she lived. I wondered if Winks was anywhere nearby and what he would think if he came across me and Korra together. Honestly, I found it rather ironic that the two Cheetahs I'd met, just days apart, were mates. It's was kind of funny.

Korra trotted over, and sniffed the opening of the empty den that Asali had found. It was indeed her own. Thank you! Your welcome to come in, if you like. She said smiling. It was the last she could do, after Asali offered her in.

It was the right den! I was happy that I could help Korra find her home. I was sure she shouldn't be away from it for too long. And she really needed to be somewhere Winks could look out for her and protect her. Now that I was going to be around, I would be sure to keep an eye on my new friend as well. Friend... the word was sadly foreign. Sure, I'd had friends. But they didn't seem to stick. That was my own fault, though, and I knew it. I accepted it. Korra invited me into her den. "Are you sure? I don't want to intrude," I said, cautious. What if Winks returned and thought I was a danger to Korra? Or to his cubs? What if he sent me away? What if Korra sent me away?

Korra had slipped in, but stood with her head still sticking out of the den entrance. Oh, please. You're not intruding. Think of it as... As an invitation. She smiled, and disappeared into the den. Korra glowed with the though of her new friend. It wasn't everyday that she actually made friends with females.

Korra insisted that I come in, and then slipped inside. I hesitated, and then followed. I was relieved that she hadn't sent me away, honestly. Though, it could always happen down the road, when I was already attached to her, Winks and the cubs, but at the moment, that was a risk I wanted to take. Something had happened inside me. I'd let Korra in and now I truly realized how much I'd missed interaction, friendship... The feeling scared me, this comfort and feeling of trust. And though it wasn't complete trust, it was enough that I knew it could hurt me down the road, should it backfire.
Rather than continue thinking these somewhat scary thoughts, I focused on the present, and wandered into the den behind Korra. It was nicer than the one we'd stayed in last night. Roomier, I thought. Perfect for their new little family. I felt a surge of happiness for my new friend. She deserved them, the happiness and love they would bring. After all she and Winks had been through...I was truly happy for them. "It's nice," I told her with a smile. "It's perfect."

Asali seemed to like my den, and I was pretty happy. I was super excited for the cubs, so that Asali and I could spend more time together, and Asali could get experience with cubs. Thank you. It's been my home for a year now, and I couldn't think of anywhere else I'd rather live. I smiled, then sat in a dent on the ground, which was a bed.

Korra seemed happy here. She liked the stability, I could tell. I wondered if I would feel comfortable having such a stable life. A mate, a home, cubs on the way...it seemed like a nice life. But I was doing fine on my own so far. At the same time, I did envy her a little. It seemed like all was perfect in Korra's life. I was happy for her, though. I wouldn't wish anything to change for her. I hoped her cubs were healthy and happy, too. "That's nice," I said, looking around the den. My typical place of sleep was a tree somewhere I deemed safe after investigation. It was nice that Korra had somewhere reliable, especially with those cubs on the way.

You know, I used to wonder to. I said with a little smile. Asali seemed like the wondering type.

She used to wander, too? Hm, I guessed me and Korra had a few things in common. "Well, you should rest. I'm sure Winks will probably show up around here any time." I started to walk out of her den. I didn't want to intrude any more and I didn't really want to see Winks just yet after the way I took off last time I saw him. And I was sure he didn't want to see me with his pregnant mate. They probably wanted to spend time together anyway. I smiled at Korra as I stepped outside, looking over my shoulder at her. "I'll come by again soon. I can't wait to meet your cubs," I said. Then I headed towards the woods.
[Since they're both in another thread together, figured we could close this one.]

I nodded, and let Asali leave. I was sad to see her go, but she was properly uncomfortable. She said winks would be home soon, and I sure hoped he would be. That's the thug about winks. He isn't exactly punctual. I'll see you soon! I shouted as she left my den.

I smiled and glanced back. "See you," I called.
