"Watch" I said, running off. A minute later I came back chasing a plump zebra. I leaped on her, sunk my teeth into her n3ck and twisted. I buried my claws deep into her rump and she fell, rolling a little. She kicked weakly but I ended her life with a painless blow and stepped back, calling Asali over. "Ladies first" I stepped back.

Obviously, Winks didn't need my help. But then, he was a bit bigger than me, and older than me and therefore had more exerience hunting. He disappeared in the distance, looking for something to hunt, so I sat back and waited patiently. The sun was high in the sky and it was fairly hot, so I went to the shade of the tree and waited for Winks to return. In no time, I saw a zebra running towards me. Just behind it, Winks was following. He made quick work of the kill and called me over.
I trotted over to the zebra and he stepped back and let me eat first. The smell of the fresh kill was intoxicating. It wasn't often that I got zebra. I wasted no time and dug in, savoring every bite of the still-warm meat. My teeth dug in and I growled happily as I filled my stomach. After I'd gorged, I sat back. "Thanks," I told Winks.

I stepped back and smiled while she ate and then i took my fill, leaving nothing but the fat and bones of the zebra. I lay down on my side, belly swollen with meat. "So, what next?" I chuckled.

I watched as Winks devoured what was left of the meat and grinned as he rolled over on his side, his stomach clearly showing he'd eaten recently. I laughed and sat back. He asked what was next. I thought about all the different things we could do and pondered for a moment. Then my thoughts changed. We were having fun, but this could be dangerous. I thought about the swimming, how much fun we had, and how we'd acted as friends so easily. But that wasn't me. I didn't have friends. I didn't let others in. They would only hurt me in the end, right? I looked at Winks and cleared my throat. "Um...actually, I really need to go. It's going to start getting dark soon and the place I sleep is pretty far from here..." I stood and looked down for a second then at Winks. "It's been fun, though. Maybe I'll see you around sometime. Bye, Winks." I turned then, afraid of what he might say, or what he might not say. What if I had only assumed we were becoming friends. That almost scared more than it actually happening. I picked up my pace a little and headed towards the forest.

"Yeah, bye Asali! See you around!" I called after her, getting up and shaking out my fur.
THREAD FINISHED.
